These courses are also called "Counseling Courses." They are a mixture of both techniques and are typically applied to researchers in a personalized way or to a very small group (2 or 3 people) who are working on the same project and need to delegate some very technical activities to streamline their work.
In these cases, the following procedure provides for:
A) Lower cost (e.g. travel costs are eliminated)
B) Better use of our advisory, since in this is a more personalized case.

a) What is the procedure?

I) DIAGNOSIS

One of our consultants will contact you to identify your final objectives and locate both your domain of the software that you will use and other previous knowledge required. This can usually be solved in a 1-hour teleconference. The goal is to agree on where you want to begin and how far you want to go, e.g., which studies you want to analyze, publish, etc.

II) DESIGN OF THE WORK PLAN

We design a customized work plan based on the previous session.

III) IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PLAN

We will reach out to you via Voice over the Internet and will guide you using our technological support. For example, when requested, your instructor (from our office) will take control of your mouse and show you -on your screen- how to perform the required procedures. Furthermore, when required, from your screen you can see the activity on the instructor’s screen. The dates and times of the sessions would be agreed upon.

NOTE: If needed, the video can be projected on a large screen to be more comfortable to facilitate observing the procedures along with your colleagues. If desired, the instructor can answer questions from your colleagues also.

b) What advantages do I have compared with taking a group course?

1) Better control of your budget.

2) More flexibility to define dates for the sessions, allowing:

a. Easier assimilation of knowledge than in a group course, which frequently leaves unattended questions in some of the participants.

b. The health researcher has time to contemplate and ask meaningful questions.

c) What is the cost of the Counseling Courses?

Our Counseling Courses cost $1,850 (*) per hour when buying at least 20 hours.

d) Method of payment

Except in special cases, with very short requirements (implying a lower total cost), a prepaid package of 20 hours of consulting = $37,000 (*) would be purchased and consumed according to your times and convenience. It would not have an expiration date, that is, you could take the time you need to consume the package.

If you need more advice later, you could purchase the 10 or 20-hour packages you consider necessary. We offer a smaller 10-hour package after the purchase of a standard 20-hour package.

e) Please consider

The time charged is time dedicated to you. For example, if you were to ask your instructor to perform an analysis not in line with you, the instructor would tell you how many hours would be consumed and would proceed only if you authorize it. These hours would be taken from your package.

The same applies to any other activity that you ask your consultant to do offline, for example, a report of results for a specific project, the writing of technical sections for an article to be published, posters for a symposium, etc.

(*) Prices in Mexican Pesos. Applies for services within the Mexican Republic and includes taxes.

For customers in countries other than Mexico:

• Quote must be requested.

• Taxes are eliminated (as long as there are no tax changes in this topic).

Frequently asked questions

If you need help, we have a list of frequently asked questions and answers. We strive to give you the best experience possible. Click a question below to view the answer.

We provide both VIRTUAL (remote) and ON-SITE specialized support in Consultancy, Development and/or Courses for any of the following items:

  1. Methodology: Collaborate with the Health Researcher to fine-tune their Protocol or Project (to define objectives, most appropriate sampling type, sample sizes, etc.)
  2. Development of Research Databases and/or Electronic Hospital Records (with the possibility of Remote Access) where the goal is a Statistical Analysis of the data.
  3. Integration of Statistical Modules in hospitals that already have Electronic Records.
  4. Determination of the appropriate Analysis in a Quantitative or Qualitative Research.
  5. Performing said Analysis, using established techniques or developing ad hoc tools.
  6. Elaboration of Technical Report (text and graphics) in a digital format, with the goal that the researcher can use the results and integrate them into one's documents.
  7. Elaboration of Articles for publication. A document is created and prepared for delivery or publication, following the guidelines of the selected journal or other required standards. Methodology, analysis, and the bibliography are integrated into a single document.

We would not ask to appear as co-authors in the generated work; all results would be the intellectual property of the client. However, you are free to mention our participation in order to explicitly prove professional statistical support.

WORKSHOPS are for clients who need to understand the fundamentals of the required analysis for their research. ADVICE is for those who have little time and require analysis and results only. Usually, the decision depends on the client’s interest and available time.

They vary from one study to another. For BIO to generate a quote, please provide the following information:

  1. Your STUDY, which already has objectives, hypotheses, etc. If you are in an initial phase, then any advances of the STUDY.
  2. For Quantitative Studies: DATA. In case you have not yet collected data, we recommend you define: the most appropriate sampling type, sample sizes, collection process, etc.
  3. For Qualitative Studies: AUDIOS or VIDEOS, or their transcripts. If you have not yet done so, we can offer advisory on how to get them efficiently.
  4. ARTICLES used for the Bibliography of the Study (at least the most important articles), in Word or PDF format. This last point is optional and not required.

With the above information, we can send a quote (without client obligation).

a) What are the advantages of your virtual and in-person workshops?

Virtual:

 Lower costs since expenses (transportation, lodging and food) are eliminated.
 Greater flexibility in defining course schedules.

In-Person:

 Greater and better face-to-face interaction with the group, especially in large groups.
 Ability to review, study materials and situation dynamic that cannot be transferred through the Internet, such as extensive paper documents, laboratory equipment, etc.

b) What is the cost of the Courses?

The costs shown on our Website are standard. Customers with higher volume deals can obtain better prices and/or conditions.

The price is the same for any course: $48,707 (*) PER GROUP (not per person) for a 10-hour workshop. In the case of in-person workshops, add per diems of 2 consultants (instructor + coordinator).

For courses with a greater number of hours, request a quote, as the cost is not necessarily proportional.

Each attendee must provide their computer (for courses that require it)

For workshops outside our facilities, the client must provide adequate room for:

- Projector to connect the instructor’s Laptop (or to connect the PC that we would be controlling remotely).
- In the case of in-person workshops, add flipchart and canvas board.

c) How do you distribute the schedule for the Courses?

In 10-hour courses, we usually schedule 5 hours on Friday and 5 on Saturday to help minimize lodging costs for in-person cases. However, we are open to other schedules proposed by the client. In virtual courses, we offer more flexibility because there is no need to move.

d) What is the maximum class size for the Courses?

A) 8 attendees (**) for courses that require the use of the PC by the attendee
B) 20 attendees (**) for courses that do not require using a PC:

(**) These are our recommend limits. Since these are Workshops, each researcher can carry out their study, so we can thoroughly address workshop size in each case. When the group is large, the attention to each researcher can be greatly diluted, which we try to avoid since we are very careful about the quality of our service.

These limits can be modified in agreement with the contracting institution by evaluating each particular case.

e) At the end of a 10-hour course, will I be able to carry out all my analysis in the future?

This is not usual, and at the end of the workshop, each of the members would leave with their work finished or at least well advanced and with guidelines to follow (for cases that the study is in an initial phase). Additionally, during the course, the participant was observing, participating and understanding most of the analysis required by the work, which provides the tools to defend a future exposition of the study (whether in a jury, conference, article publication, etc.).

If the workshop member requested additional advice after the course, we would quote this particular case to provide very specific advice.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Remember that a statistician (the person who performs the quantitative analyses) is usually a person who has:

1) A bachelor degree in math or similar (4-5 year duration, including about 30 math courses)
2) An M.Sc. degree in math, statistics or similar (2-3 year duration, including about 16 statistics courses)
3) A Ph.D. in math, statistics or similar (3 to 4 years duration)

This person works doing statistical analysis only, thus accumulating plenty of experience.

The Qualitative Consultant has a similar profile, with many years dedicated to the study and application of these techniques.

Please note that one or several 10-hour courses cannot replace the analytical capacity and vision of a consultant. However, it can provide the health researcher with the language needed to communicate results and understand the terminology used in many health research journals, which increasingly make intensive use of quantitative and qualitative techniques.
